About us
St Francis Children’s Society is a specialised adoption agency. Founded in the 1800s, the Society has provided high quality adoption and related support services for over a century.
At any time in the UK, there are an estimated 4,000 children in need of homes. Our work is therefore vital. We aim to have an open door policy for anyone who needs our services, and also welcome enquiries from people of any cultural and social background.
Why us?
We are a place of support with a strong sense of community, where time is given freely to those who need it, whatever the need or stage of the adoption process. Our specialist team provides lifelong support and friendship for all the family. It’s this life-long support that makes the Society a place that people come back to.
We are approved as an adoption agency by Ofsted and are a registered charity and a Limited Company. Our work is entirely charitable and non-profit making.
Services
We offer a range of services including:
- adoption services
- commissioned services (including services for Local Authorities)
- schools services
- support services for adopters, adoptees and their families.
Our team
Our team includes:
- a small team of qualified and experienced social workers headed by a social work manager
- a team of experienced administrators
- an appeals co-ordinator
- co-directors with responsibility for business administration and adoption services
- specialist advisers in legal, medical, educational and spiritual matters.
Where to find us
We work largely across the counties of Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, into Hertfordshire, and within the Unitary Authorities of Milton Keynes, Luton and Slough, though we can sometimes work just beyond these boundaries.
A key determinant in deciding whether we can work with you will be assessing how accessible you are to our headquarters, where the majority of staff are based. It is important to us that we can sufficiently reach out to help you in your home and community.
Our pleasant, purpose-built offices are in Milton Keynes, with excellent parking and other facilities on offer, and convenient local rail links.
