The process
Adopting a child is a lengthy and sometimes difficult process, but we at the Society offer guidance and advice every step of the way. As well as helping you with the process, we continue to support you after the process is finished. Find out more about what to expect from the process.
Financial matters
You won’t be expected to pay anything towards the cost of your assessment and preparation as adopters. The only costs are health checks and a court fee when you lodge your application for a legal adoption order. Find out more about financial matters.
Supporting you
We provide a range of ongoing advice and support both throughout and after the adoption process. Adoption is life-long and we see it as our responsibility to be here to help you as and when you need us.
We offer a host of services to children and adults who have been adopted, in addition to support for their birth families and relatives.

Anancy Black Families initiative
Our Anancy team is particularly keen to hear from you if you are black, of black mixed heritage, or part of a mixed heritage partnership. Many of the children from BME backgrounds are young and we don’t want them to have to wait to find a family. So, if you are a BME family, please find out more in the Anancy section of the site, or contact us for more information.
Widening Horizons initiative
Every child is an individual with his or her own needs, and Widening Horizons seeks to find adoptive parents who will be willing to see that whole child first, before ruling out a child because they have additional needs. Why not widen your horizons?
