It was fantastic to see so many of our adoptive families at our annual Easter Picnic earlier today.
SFCS staff and volunteers were joined by 25 children and their families. The children took part in a ‘Bunny Hunt’, collecting letters to spell out a special message and win a chocolate bunny!
The weather was kind to us, and after the usual fun and games, everyone enjoyed a picnic together in the sunshine. It was great to see everyone meeting and socialising with other adoptive families, forming friendships and swapping contact details before they went home.
Social events are a crucial part of our adoption support service. As well as all of the professional support services we offer, we also believe that providing our families with opportunities to meet and socialise with other adoptive families is vitally important.
You will find there is an activity taking place during most school holidays, which is a help to those parents who are desperately looking for ideas to keep the kids entertained!
As well as the Easter Picnic, events on our calendar during the past year have included a visit to Big Rock Climbing, a Christmas Disco and horse-riding. Other outings we’ve arranged in the past include sledging at Snozone and Pirate Island crazy golf!
We also host regular coffee mornings for our adopters so that they can share support and ideas with other people who’ve had the same experiences as them.
If you adopted a child through SFCS and are not currently on our adopter mailing list, you and your family could be missing out. Our events are usually free of charge for our adoptive families, but we will occasionally ask for a small donation if the cost of running an event is particularly high.
Please contact us to make sure you are on our adopter mailing list – this is the only way to ensure you receive full details of each of our events. We look forward to seeing you soon!
