Those attending the fete will have a unique opportunity to see the charity’s Family Centre, an area that is not usually open to the public. In the Family Centre and the garden will be a variety of different activities for everyone to get involved with.
In addition to the usual fete games, including tombolas and hook a duck, there will also be a free children’s craft corner, a second hand toy sale, face painting, stalls hosted by local businesses and a silent auction with some spectacular prizes. There will also be a children’s cupcake competition.
Children and adults alike can also treat themselves to sweet and savoury waffles, pizzas and a bake sale, including cakes from the cupcake competition, so you won’t be going hungry!
Entry to the Summer Fete, including the craft corner is free, however the charity is hoping to raise £2,500 from the event, including monies raised from sponsorship.
Leanne Sinclair, the Fundraising Officer at St. Francis’ Children’s Society said: “We are so excited to be organizing our very first Summer Fete right here in our Family Centre. We see it as a wonderful way to not only raise funds, but to get to know members of our local community and for them to get to know us. This is an opportunity for people to get closer to the charity. As we are opening the Family Centre up to the public, we’re sure people will be curious to see first-hand where our work takes place and to find out how they can get involved.
We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting the event, including our main sponsors, Control Print Solutions.”
“Since 2010, we have changed the lives of over 250 children who have been adopted by more than 190 families. On average it costs £548 per day to provide these families with the support services they need. SFCS don’t receive any funding for these services, and rely on fundraising and donations to keep supporting families in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
The monies raised from this event will help to fund the ongoing support services that we provide to our adopters and their children. We offer life-long support and are here for our adoptive families whenever they are in need. By attending our Summer Fete, you can make a real difference to vulnerable children and their adoptive families.”
The charity are also gratefully accepting new and good quality second hand toys for them to sell at the event. If you have any toys to donate, please visit their offices or get in touch with them for more details.
We hope to see you on Saturday 27th July!
