Cycling team go the extra mile for SFCS

September 07, 2015

Next week, beginning on Friday 18th September, a team of local cyclists will be taking part in The Bike to the Future Challenge, organised by the Rotary Clubs in Milton Keynes and Bedford, and sponsored by Heald Solicitors.  They will be raising money for St. Francis’ Children’s Society (SFCS).

As well as providing ‘Outstanding’ adoption services, SFCS is a children’s charity, and we welcome support for our valuable work from fundraisers, donors and volunteers.  So we take out hats off to this dedicated team of cyclists!

The team of four will be heading out to France to take part in a relay cycle ride of 500+ miles over a three day period.  They will cover around 180 miles per day – about 45 miles a day each.  They will be cycling around Le Mans and Poitiers, taking in the Alpes Mancelles, Loire Valley and hills north of Limoges More.

The team who will be raising money for St. Francis’ Children’s Society have called themselves The Cyclopaths.  The riders are Julian Pagliaro, Simon Hill, Lucy Bazely and… our very own Dominik Byrne!

Dominik works as the Fundraising and Business Development Officer for SFCS, and he says, “We are raising money for the SFCS Family Fund which helps St Francis’ Children’s Society to develop and provide its extensive range of adoption support services for adoptive families in the Milton Keynes and Peterborough areas.  These services include training, workshops, one-to-one counselling, Theraplay® and family support events.

We have all been training hard and it’s going to be a long, tiring three days, but all worth it for a great cause.”

The team are hoping to raise £1,200 for the SFCS Family Fund.  If you would like to find out more about The Cyclopaths’ efforts for SFCS and make a donation, click here.

Good luck and sincere thanks to The Cyclopaths, and thank you to all of you who donate – your support really does make a difference to adopted children and their families.
