Many people feel that if they can’t run a marathon or scale Mount Kilimanjaro, they can’t take part in a fundraising challenge for their favourite charity. Through the 5k May Challenge, Just Giving and Run For Heroes are aiming to make fundraising events more inclusive and accessible.
Everyone can get involved, regardless of age or physical ability, and experience that great sense of achievement that comes from completing a challenge AND raising funds for a good cause.
Simply commit to completing 5km of movement at any time during the month of May. You can run, roll, walk, cycle or even swim if you want to. It’s just about getting out and feeling good while doing it.
You can do your 5k anywhere, anytime, with anyone. You could even split your 5k down into five 1k sections to be completed throughout the month – ideal if you’re taking part with young children, have disabilities or are in a wheelchair. This really is an event for everyone.
Once you’ve completed your challenge, you simply donate £5 to SFCS via our special 5k May fundraising page and nominate 5 of your friends to do the same.
Here’s your simple step-by-step guide…
Run, walk, roll, swim, cycle your 5K, your way. Do whatever suits you, your children or even your granny – this is an event you can all get involved in.
Donate your £5 to SFCS via our 5k May fundraising page on Just Giving.
Nominate 5 of your friends to participate and donate too – those £5 donations soon mount up! We would love to follow your journey – just tag us on Facebook (@stfrancischildrenssociety), Twitter (@SFCS_adoption) and Instagram (@adoptionsfcs), and we’ll be able to share your post and celebrate your success with you.
Why not mobilise your school, friends, work colleagues or sports club to get involved too? It’s the perfect opportunity to get a group together (virtually or socially distanced, of course!) and encourage them to take part in a 5k too.
As a thank you, all participants who have donated £5 will receive a digital goodie bag packed full of rewards and treats from some major brands.
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to get involved with a fun, family activity and support SFCS while you get moving. If you have any questions about what’s involved, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line via our Contact Us form or via fundraising@sfcs.org.uk. Thank you for your support!
