We will be hosting a stand during the day so that festival-goers can come and chat to us about adoption. We will be there to offer loads of information about the adoption process and will be giving out Happy Bags, which contain visual reminders for self-care. We also have a huge tub of sweets and lollies which have been kindly donated for us to use, so come and see us if you need a quick sugar hit!
As an adoption agency, SFCS operates an open-door policy. We welcome all kinds of adopters for all kinds of children, regardless of age, race, cultural background, religion, marital status or sexual orientation. We have a long and successful history of placing children with LGBT+ families, and look forward to speaking to potential adopters at Pride:MK.
Pride:MK is a family friendly, accessible and diverse event for the LGBTQ+ community in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. The event takes place in Campbell Park, MK9 4AD, between 12 noon and 10.30pm. It is a not-for-profit event and any money that is raised will go to services for the LGBTQ+ Community in MK via Q:alliance and towards next year’s event. Entrance to the event is completely free.
This year’s event is aiming to be a different type of Pride event. The organisers are not holding a parade and are trying to make the day more like a ‘Festival of Pride.’ This is with the aim of attracting families to the event during the day, as parents may sometimes feel that general Pride events are not suitable for children.
Pride:MK aims to engage and empower the local LGBTQ+ community and their supporters. The event will provide a free and safe space to celebrate LGBTQ+ contributions to Milton Keynes, and improve visibility and education around LGBTQ+ issues.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic day on Saturday. We’ll be there between 12 noon and 6pm, so please pop along for a chat and a Happy Bag!
