It’s been a busy summer holiday for our adoptive families here at SFCS!
At the end of July, members of the SFCS Young Persons Group joined us for a visit to Aeriel Extreme at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes.
Our Young Persons’ Group, which is made up of our adopted children aged between 10 and 13 years old, meet regularly throughout the year. They often get together in our Family Centre, but this time we were feeling more adventurous! We were very impressed as everyone bravely tackled all the obstacles and challenges at the high rope adventure course.
And last weekend, we welcomed around 12 of our adoptive families to our annual Summer Picnic. Thankfully, the weather was kind and our families had a great time together. The bouncy castle and soft play equipment were a big hit with the kids!
Social events are a crucial part of our adoption support service. As well as all of the professional support services we offer, we also believe that providing our adoptive families with opportunities to socialise with each other is vitally important. You will find there is an activity taking place during most school holidays, which is a help to those parents who are desperately looking for ideas to keep the kids entertained!
Events on our calendar this year have included indoor sledging at Snozone, an Easter Egg Hunt, and a trip to Pirate Island for some crazy golf! Other outings we’ve arranged in the past include indoor rock-climbing and horse-riding. We also host regular coffee mornings for our adopters so that they can share support and ideas with other people who’ve had the same experiences as them.
If you adopted a child through SFCS and are not currently on our adopter mailing list, you and your family could be missing out. Our events are usually free of charge for our adoptive families, but we will occasionally ask for a small donation if the cost of running an event is particularly high.
Please contact us to make sure you are on our adopter mailing list – this is the only way to ensure you receive full details of each of our events. We look forward to seeing you soon!
