Leave a gift in your will

SFCS have been supporting vulnerable children for 150 years; from rescuing children who might otherwise have ended up in a Victorian workhouse, to finding adoptive families to love and protect children in care. By leaving a legacy today, you are supporting tomorrow’s work.

We understand that family and friends come first, but once you have looked after your loved ones, please consider leaving us a gift in your Will. There are around 3,000 children in care waiting for a home. You can help us find more families for these children and be there for them when they need us.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the easiest ways of making a significant gift. In fact, leaving just 1% of your estate will make a big difference to our work.

Making a Will

There are different types of legacy to choose from, including:

Residuary legacy – a gift of the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other legacies have been made and debts cleared. This is an effective way to divide your estate between a number of people and causes that are important to you.

Pecuniary legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money (the value of which will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases).

What do I say in my Will?

If you are kindly considering leaving a legacy then the wording below can be used in your Will. However, we always recommend that you take professional advice to ensure the legacy meets your personal circumstances.

I give a ….% share of the residue of my estate to St. Francis’ Children’s Society to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
